A small town girl, born and raised in sweet home Alabama, I have always enjoyed the creative life. My childhood consisted of designing luxury homes for my coveted Barbie dolls, and building restaurants out of Legos. Granny’s free standing record player was the hot spot for every Barbie in town to go for an unforgettable night of dancing and fun. Of course, being a country girl, those days were also filled with fishing, Super Nintendo, and picnics on a blanket with my sisters.
Fast forward to my teenage years, my creative life shifted towards re-decorating my bedroom twice a year and creating the weirdest collages you’ve ever seen. I began to realize that I adored design. I was finding my place in the world, and the creative life was it.
I started college at the University of North Alabama in Spring of 2011. After finishing my common core classes, I decided to declare my major: Interior Design. I still remember that fated moment in Intro to Interior Design. I learned the difference between the titles Interior Decorator vs. Interior Designer. Pursuing a career in Interior Design meant pursuing the emotional and physical well-being of my future clients. I learned that it wasn’t just about picking the prettiest furniture, the coolest color, or having a job that everyone else wanted. Most importantly, I learned what it was: hard work, extremely technical, and community oriented. It means putting others needs before your own in order to create a space that works to nourish the human body, both physically and emotionally.
In the Fall of 2016, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree with a Concentration in Interior Design. My life was forever changed when I landed a job in Nashville and moved my entire life within two short weeks of graduating. The past few years of my life have consisted of working as a residential designer in this great city, full of talented designers, some of which I've had the pleasure of working with. It has always been a dream of mine to start my very own residential design business. In the Spring of 2020, that dream became a reality. I have now spent the past few years growing my own interior design business.
If I’m honest, my life has been full of hardship, but also an abundance of joy. I’ve learned a lot over the years. I’ve learned to overcome. I’ve learned to work hard. I’ve learned the importance of community. I’ve learned what it takes to be a great friend and a great designer. This business is more than just a livelihood. It is a call to forward momentum. It is a call to improve the daily lives of my clients. It is a call to change the world in any way that I can.
This is the creative life.
